Godin Overview

Filmmaker Simon Beaulieu traces the career of Gérald Godin, a poet, journalist and politician who was married to singer Pauline Julien. The film looks at key moments of his life including his political awakening in the 1960s to his untimely death in 1994 following a battle with brain cancer. His arrest during the October crisis, the election when he defeated incumbent Premier of Québec Robert Bourassa for a seat in the Parti Québecois, and his pioneering work within cultural communities as Minister of Immigration are all examined within the film.
